Debian-based SVC-Runner installation

Runtime Environment

Other Linux distributions

ITEG has stopped providing rpm packages after RHEL 8.x.

To run SVC-Runner under a non-Debian system please use a OCI image orchestrator like docker, docker compose or podman and our Docker images, see SVC-Runner as Docker container.

Requirements

SVC-Runner is primarily provided in the form of Debian packages (*.deb) which require a Debian-based distribution with a java runtime version 17 or 21, i.e. something providing java17-runtime-headless or java21-runtime-headless.

Some applications need non-headless JREs or other additional packages.

Recommendations

Our recommendation is to use Debian stable, currently Debian 13 trixie.

Java wise the recommedation is to use openjdk-21-jre-headless (resp. openjdk-21-jre if applications use features not in the headless core).

Installation from ITEG's apt repositories

If the system has access to the internet it is recommended to use the apt repositories provided by ITEG.

For this installation approach see Debian-based online installation.

Installation when isolated from the internet

Some customers don't let application servers access the internet and will receive applications based on SVC-Runner as single zip file containing all the required Debian packages.

For this installation approach see Debian-based offline installation.
